Collection:   Corinth
Type:   Basket
Name:   Temple E, Southeast, context 872
Area:   Temple E, Southeast
Title:   Rocky surface, South half Room 6
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1109
Context:   872
Date:   2015/06/12
Stratum:   25% inclusions, tile, pottery, bone
Description:   The soil color is light reddish brown. The soil compaction is weakly cemented. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silt.
Notes:   More and larger inclusions than 868 above, and the surface below.
At the north, removal of thelayer comes down on another, harder packed surface with fewer large inclusions, which earlier had appeared beneath cut 871 and itsfill 869. Many tile fragments, arranged horizontally, as if tread upon. Irregular context to to the area, probably because it is cut by many of the above graves. At the north, it terminates in a narrow spit up aginst the thick clayey layer, which it possibly cuts. At the east and south, we come down on several different, irregular-shaped contexts at different elevations.
Coin 596 - sieve, folded
Progressing further down, we once again came down on tiles and rocks, though fewere than the current context.
The present context appears to be the same as that to the west, against wall 58, beneath 867.

Animal bones: oyster, sheep/goat, bovid, spiral fractions on some long bones, clam, hight proporsion of sea food (1.79 kg) all thrown.
LN 25/6/15 PJK: This context is probably to be closely associated with 868 above, perhaps as 2 parts of the same leveling event.
The presence of so many graves and cuts in this part of the room likely caused issues of drainage and slumping, thus explaining the patchiness of the contexts.
