Type:   Basket
Name:   Temple E, Southeast, context 900
Area:   Temple E, Southeast
Title:   Rubble deposit south section room 7
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1109
Context:   900
Date:   2015/06/19
Stratum:   70% spherical and tabular angular medium pebbles. Fragments of shards, tiles and animal bones.
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light greyish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is very poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   11.00: The excavation of this context arose some questions on postdepositional processes in the room. Although its surface presented the same surface that 892, a small boundary in the north, very diffuse, was established between the two contexts. The reason for this was a difference in the compaction of the soil, higher in this context than in 892. After careful consideration I interpreted that this difference in a soil that otherwise appears to be the same was caused by a recent phenomenon of trampling.
After the room was exposed through excavation, the north and central segments were covered by a plastic fabric, while the south section, corresponding to the area of the pit and this context, was left exposed. Not only that; during season 2015 the excavation of rooms 6, 8, 9 and the corridor north of the church the south of room 7 was exposed to heavy traffic, including being the loading point for wheelbarrels. This is in my opinion thre only reason in the difference of compaction of the soil. Despite this inpterpretation I do not consider that, at least stratigraphically, the present context and 892 should be completely equated, since their postdepositional history differs.
12.15: Room was closed for the season without further issues.
