Context: | 997 | |
Date: | 2016/06/06 | |
Stratum: | Fine rounded, spherical and medium subangular, tabular pebbles.
Description: | Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is well sorted. It is silty clay.
Notes: | Although within the same grave (2016-07), this deposit was started because it was under the primary inhumation (994) of this grave. Once the bottom of the grave was cleaned after the removal of skeleton 994, an articulated spine appeared around the center of the grave. Further investigation revealed another articulated spine to the north of the first spine. This context is from excavating around these remains to determine if there are more articulated elements associated with them. An articulated foot is located at the west end of the grave and might be associated with one of these spines. There is a stone lyhing whre a cranium have reusted or may be under. Th emor northern spinal cord has left ribs, L clavical, and L humerus associated with it. Upon futher consideration, it appears as though the south sinal cord actually belongs with the north spinal cord as the vetebrae appear to be sequential. This must still be confirmed though. These skeletal remains were removed as one skeleton context (998). The upper vertebrae of the northern portion were indeed resting on the concave tile. A cut (Context 1000) was found in association with this skeleton context (998) and fill (997).
