| Description: | Capital with abacus (H. 0.12); top surface finished with a point. Taenia (H. 0.012) with red paint and specks of gold (observed under microscope). Top edge of “basket”; raised diagonal stripes create effect of wicker weaving. Part of horizontal woven strap wraps around the basket, ca 0.035 from edge. Significantly smaller than biggest example, A-965. Either base for this capital would have to be higher, to be level with other capitals, height of abacus adjusted for differences in size, or there were capitals in at least two different scales. Other examples of same type include A-834, A-961, A-962, A-963, A-964, A-965, A-966, SUR-12:0592, SUR-12:0593, SUR-16:0003; these capitals were probably supported by caryatids. | |
