Description:   Rectangular wall block, identified as Old Temple block on basis of 2 parallel rope channels (W00.04, Depth00.015) set 0.27 m. apart, running length of block on undersurface. Undersurface slightly concave in transverse section and roughly chisel-dressed. Upper surface similarly concave, though somewhat more smoothly finished. The end of the black is smoothly finished adjacent to the face, more roughly tooled elsewhere. The face smoothly finished to 0.32 m. from end; there smooth surface ends along a neat vertical line, where face recessed ca. 00.002 m., roughened with chisel. This surface continues to preserved end of face; in places fine white stucco adheres to this surface. Note: smooth portion of face probably received a vertical timber in a half-timbered wall frame.

Condition:   Fragment. Single frgt., preserving portions of top, bottom, one end, one face.
