Description:   Mortar with tall convex bowl, projecting rim slightly convex, set below top of bowl creating a rising lip. The spout is straightsided (no flare) with an irregular ridge on the outside (intentional?). The end of the spout is not well finished and flares down. No evidence for handle or bolster. Surfaces are not smoothed evenly; inclusions are visible on the interior surface as grit for grinding. The type belongs to Edwards Mortar II (Hellenistic), Williams' Type V.
Material:   Coarse clay with many large and small red and gray inclusions
Munsell Color:   Core: 7.5YR 8-7/6, Surface: 10YR 8/3
Condition:   Fragment. Single frgt., preserving all of spout, small section of rim and upper bowl.
