| Decoration: | On the inside of the mouth, a ship sails right. On the sail, three long oblique lines, which indicate a pair of brailing lines and the leech of the sail, and seven shorter lines, which are horizontal reinforcing lines. In the bow, crosshatched bowscreen and stem post. A horizontal rail runs aft from the bow, and below the rail are the partially preserved heads of three oarsmen. Only the incised arc from the hairline of the middle figure is preserved. Smudge of glaze to the right of the stem post. On the top of the mouth, there is a black line at the outside edge; the inside edge is badly worn. Parts of two chariots to right. At left, the heads of two horses. At right, the hindquarters of four horses and the upper part of the chariot and the charioteer, who wears a chiton and carries a goad. On the outside of the mouth, ivy wreath. Parts of eight upper leaves and the stem are preserved. Red: mane and forelock of horse at left and tail of right trace horse at right; white: sail, charioteer's chiton. | |
