Description:   Convex pyxis with attenuated ovoid body with max. diam. just below shoulder, nearly horizontal shoulder. Horizontal loop handle set vertically on shoulder.
Decoration:   Lower half of body reserved with black-red-black bands at mid height, framing reserved zone with double palmette chain: lower row upside down, upper right side up, separated in center by double scrolls, and separated from adjoining palmette by schematic lotus. Above, at edge of shoulder black band framed by 2 thin red lines; on shoulder chain of upside down palmettes, in so far as preserved; between handle roots 2 lotus flowers one above other; handle roots reserved, upper 2/3 black glazed Interior reserved.
Material:   Fine clay with less than 2% coarse voids, fired pale yellow to pale pink.
Munsell Color:   10YR 8/3 to near 7.5YR 7/6
Condition:   Fragment. Thirteen joining frgts. preserving body from somewhere above foot and most of shoulder profile, ca. 1/8 circumference; one handle; chip in handle.
