Description:   Plate with vertical ring foot, somewhat carelessly trimmed, narrow resting surface, ca. flat undersurface. Shallow body, flaring nearly horizontally, then curves gently up to oblique squared lip.
Decoration:   White slip over all, thinly applied to exterior. Champleve medallion covering most of floor: large lion prancing to rt., head (largely missing) turned back, forepaws raised. Beneath lion is smaller deer with very long neck, tiny head turned back, round eye. Above lion, breast and forelegs of 3rd animal. Pointed leaf filling. Outer band of 3 concentric ridges, outer two with groups of vertical slashes. Pale yellow glaze in, clear out over all.
Material:   Moderately coarse red clay with moderate amount ofcoarse white, fine white, red inclusions, numerous coarse voids.
Munsell Color:   Nearly 2.5YR 4/6 (fresh chip)
Condition:   Complete profile. Seventeen joining frgts., complete profile and foot, floor; 1/4 body to lip.
