Description:   Imported thin walled ware red slipped mug or pitcher with ovoid body, vertical strap handle, and outturned rim. C-1969-252 (Slane 1990, Corinth 18.2, cat. 202) is local imitation of this form.
Decoration:   Slip mottled from reddish yellow (5YR 7/8) to red (10R 5/8) to metallic black. Groove on neck, two grooves on rim. Two wide grooves on handle. Numerous fingerprints on exterior and interior. Scaring on wall opposite handle, possibly from carrying or damaged repaired before slip added.
Material:   Fine pink fabric with few small round voids.
Munsell Color:   5YR 7/4 (pink)
Condition:   Fragment. Eleven joining frgts., preserving almost complete profile, 1/2 rim, handle. Base missing. Slip well preserved.
Period:   1 st c. A.C.
Chronology:   third quarter 1st c. CE, based on comparanda in Corinth 18.2
