Description: | Plate with vertical ring foot with beveled resting surface, slightly convex undersurface. Shallow wide-flaring body rising at ca.20 degrees to horizontal outturned rim with tapered lip. | |
Decoration: | Pale slip on interior. Sgraffito decoration: large medallion on floor with cross made of 4 double arcs, spiral filler in angles; outer band of hatching; broad band near rim with rinceau. On rim widely spaced panels of crosses with triangles in angles, framed by 3 lines (one set preserved). Clear glossy glaze fired to grayish over interior, and upper half of exterior., where greenish. | |
Material: | Moderately coarse clay fired buff at outer surface, pale pink at inner surface with dense admixture of tiny black, and some coarser, inclusions. | |
