Description:   Cyma kantharos with stem foot, flat resting surface and conical undersurface, with moulded exterior in two degrees; narrow lower with convex sloping side ending in beveled edge, upper thin pointed ridge articulated from lower by shallow groove. Low conical stem connected to foot by curve. Wide body with very convex lower and straight upper almost vertical in profile, narrowing slightly to small everted tapered lip. Vertical strap handle with rectangular thumb rest attaching to just below lip and upper body.
Decoration:   West Slope style with two horizontal groove bands at lower and upper handle attachment levels. Inscribed running ivy between bands on one side, and string of necklace motif with ribbon dangling from both ends on other. Black glaze all over, except for stem, resting surface and undersurface painted red.
Material:   Fine very pale clay with few fine to small spherical red and black, rare fine sparkling inclusions. Rare fine voids.
Munsell Color:   10YR 8/4 (very pale brown)
Condition:   Complete profile. Numerous joining frgts., preserving foot, stem, 3/4 body, all of lip, both handles. Black glaze and red paint preserved in parts.
