Description:   Transport/ storage amphora with tall cylindrical neck, outward thickened collar rim, H00.052, thick round lip; vertical handle, oval in section, attached just below rim and on shoulder.
Writing:   dipinto and stamp. Rectangular stamp on rim in section between handles, Latin: L.TARIRVFI, L. Tarius Rufus, see Amphores Romaines et Histoire Economique,1989, p. 86-87. Dipinto, in red paint, letters vertically on either side of neck, next to handles, Latin?, illegible.
Material:   Fine clay fired pale yellow at surface, pale pink at core, with rare medium to very large dark red inclusions and voids, and rare very large (up to D00.015) lime inclusions.
Munsell Color:   Clay surface: 10YR 8/4; clay core: 7.5YR 8/3
Condition:   Fragment. Six joining frgts preserving almost complete rim, 90% neck, one complete handle and both attachments of second handle.
