Title:   IMITATION ROMAN THIN-WALLED WARE BEAKER

Description:   Mug with disk foot, flat resting surface, ovoid body with max. diam. above median, flaring rim concave on interior, grooved on exterior, tapered lip; vertical strap handle, grooved on back, attatched to body at max. diam. Profile similar to C 1969 252 (Corinth XVIII.2, p. 96, no. 202, fig. 23).
Decoration:   Black glaze all over, dripping down exterior of body, double groove at mid-point of body. Glazing and fabric is reminiscent of Hellenistic finewares.
Material:   Fine very pale brown clay with rare medium brown and red inclusions, and rare medium voids.
Munsell Color:   10YR 7/4 (very pale brown)
Condition:   Complete profile. Three joining fragments preserve all of foot, 1/5 body, 1/4 rim, handle. Glaze well preserved. String marks on resting surface of foot.
