Description: | Askos or acquamanile in form of animal with short, stumpy legs, feet with toes rendered. Barrel-shaped body, flat at one end, rounded at opposite, head end. Large scar on rounded end, with small hole, D00.018, where head origianlly attached; on back at opposite end cylindrical neck of spout with coarse sieve in its bottom. On rest of back, stumps of horizontal strap handle, set vertically. | |
Decoration: | Decorated in matt brown paint: on body faint pattern of wavy lines and circles. On flat end, 8 vertical wavy lines separated by straight lines. | |
Material: | Fine hard-fired red clay with common tiny white, black inclusions, rare coarser white, black. | |
