Description:   Deep bowl, FS 284. Flaring rim. A small hole has been drilled a little to the left of center on one side. This is perhaps an ancient mending hole.
Decoration:   Slightly lustrous, wet-smoothed surface. Paint varies from dark reddish brown to yellowish brown. Monochrome interior. Rim painted on exterior, band below zone. In center of zone, vertical parallel chevron group; near handle on each side, panel (1) with fill of 3 isolated chevrons. 3 splashes on handle.
Material:   fine clay
Munsell Color:   Fracture: 2.5 Y 8/4 (pale yellow); surface: 2.5 Y 8/3 (white); paint varies from 5 YR 2.5/2 (dark reddish brown) to 10 YR 5/8 (yellowish brown)
Condition:   Fragment. Mended from 8 sherds. Full profile not preserved. None of base or lower body, ca. 20% of body above base of zone, ca. 50% of rim, and one complete handle preserved.
