Description:   Palmette antefix worked in one with pentagonal cover tile, above which it projects. Face decorated in relief with 7-petal palmette; 3 central petals straight, lower ones drooping somewhat with round tips; edge of antefix scalloped to reflect petals. Semicircular heart, below which 2 tendrils curve up and down - outer ends missing; tendrils tied by cross-bar, below which an upside down lotus; in center of lotus a drop-shaped heart and 3 curling petals; large stud flanking cross-bar to either side.
Decoration:   All surfaces slipped. Petals painted red-black alternating from central black petal, red heart, cross-bar and studs, black tendrils and lotus petals, red lotus heart. Small palmette red and black. Red on outer edge of antefix.
Material:   Light pinkish-buff coarse clay fired to darker pink at core, with numerous fine to coarser (to 3 mm.) black, some red mudstone inclusions.
Munsell Color:   Pinker than 10YR 7.5/4 to 7.5YR 7/4
Condition:   Fragment. Two joining frgts., preserving most of face, broken at juncture to cover tile in back; broken lower edge, and corners, right half of palmette; glaze worn.
