Description:   Palmette antefix for sima in light on dark style. Kalypter 0.087 high of pentagonal form with neck rising to 0.163 where palmette-decorated face starts. Back of tile facetted from top sides of kalypter to top of palmette. Sides of tile at palmette scalloped to reflect form of leaves of front face. Front face moulded on flat place. Bottom edge of kalypter worked after firing. Bottom of palmette trimmed to sit upon top of sima.
Decoration:   Eleven-leaf palmette, all round-ended except central leaf which is pointed. Leaves droop slightly downward, palmette heart U-shaped, supported on two S-shaped tendrils with one end turning up and inward, around eyes, supporting palmette, other end down and out, with counter-curving of biforcated end. Upper biforcation has single leaf hanging from it and diamond-shaped lead area between S-shaped tendrils: central "honeysuckle flower" hanging from between tendril spirals. At either side of honeysuckle is half palmette 5-leaves. Matt brown-black background, dull red heart of palmette, between leaves of honeysuckle. Side face of palmette painted red. Similar but not same mould as FA-414.
Material:   Buff to creamish yellow, creamish yellow slip. Much mudstone up to 3mm long.
Munsell Color:   3.5Y 6.8/5 to 7/5YR 6.5/4
Condition:   Missing parts. Complete palmette, most of neck, beginning of right side of kaylyter, mended from three frgts.
