Title:   ANTEFIX OF CORINTHIAN COVER TILE

Description:   Corinthian cover tile with antefix, vertical sides broken (H. of sides nowhere complete), top sloping surfaces 0.093-0.095 m. wide. Front face has undecorated panel framed with groove at side edges, rising to spiral at top outside corners. Spirals curl around concave "eye." Proper right corner spiral broken away. Grooves rise in arc at top edge of antefix to meet at center, thin curl around concave "eyes." This is crowned by palmette now broken away. Exact parallel: Le Roi, Fdelphes. II. Terrecuitees architecturales, pl. 19. Roof series 26, A. 41. Here called Attic series. Also: FA 571, fr. E. of Theatre Excavations.
Decoration:   On top corners and center rise above top of calypter.
Material:   Clay pinkish mudstone, thin pinkish slip, added red.
Condition:   Fragment. Front end of antefix, back portion of tile broken away, chipped all around.
Dimensions Preserved:   H. 0.132, W. at face 0.176, max. dim. from face to break at back 0.196 m.
