Title:   ARCHAIC SIMA: CROWNING MOLDING

Description:   Crowning moulding of early archaic sima, preserving most of profile of quarter-round lower moulding, P.H. ca. 0.12 m., and complete upper quarter-round, H. 0.034 m. Top of upper moulding flat as preserved, back edge broken. Behind, rest of sima top recessed, 0.018 m. and flat. Back of moulding hollow. Front face and top of moulding slipped. On this painted lotus palmette chain. R. to lt., parts of 4 palmette petals, purple and black; flaring tip of black lotus leaf. Black line at base of upper moulding which is preserved. Black line along top.
Material:   Fine Corinthian greenish-buff clay with heavy admixture of fine black inclusions. Fine surface slip, marroon and black paint.
Condition:   Fragment. Single fragment preserving part of top surface, broken remaining sides.
