Description:   Lateral sima attached to flat pan tile, with fascia at base, face of which largely defaced; inset vertical panel ending in flat top without crowning moulding. Panel decorated in relief with fluted stalk rising from acanthus leaf at base, with part of one tendril preserved below. To lt. is proper lt. side of lion-head spout: knotted brow surrounded by three rows of short pointed man locks, plastically rendered with 2-3 grooves each, flattened ear. Deeply set eye (brown ridge chipped away) with half-moon incised for iris, wrinkles at outer corners, bit of open mouth.
Decoration:   Soffit: reserved astragal W00.041, Dilute red-brown band W00.026. Traces of painted decoration on fascia: maeander in red, balck ? Acanthus in white on black ground, with red paint around edge of acanthus leaf. Yellow mane locks, black pupil and black outline of upper lid; black line surrounding mouth, red lips.
Material:   Coarse yellow clay with moderate admixture of fine to slightly coarser black mudstone inclusions.
Munsell Color:   5Y 8/3.5
Condition:   Complete profile. Complete profile. Missing most of soffit and base fascia, preserving proper lt. side of head, broken either end.
