Title:   EAVES TILE FROM LATER ARCHAIC TEMPLE

Description:   Eaves tile with flat bottom, stepped down for overhang, both unslipped. Front face vertical, slipped with painted guilloche pattern. Top smooth with upward curving lip at right to fit under the cover tile. Right edge dressed back to interlock with neighboring tile. Dressing is a slant from the edge, then straight, then step into a slipped smooth side. Top is flat for ca. 0.047 m. before edge upcurves to receive an antefix. Cf. Corinth Drawing #1087.
Decoration:   Guilloche has matt black centers with black and red S-curves, matte yellow separating bands. Holes at centers and incised curves along guilloche indicate compass. Center to center 0.055 m.
Material:   Coarse yellow clay with dense admixture of black and red fine inclusions, fine buff yellow slip.
Condition:   Fragment. Single fragment preserving edge, right side, top and bottom, broken at back and left.
