Description:   Inscription on base of sepulchral monument. Circular depression in top (D. 0.05, Diam. 0.124). Between depression and right front corner, circular roughening of top surface (Diam. 0.11), possibly for attachment of object resting above. Letters cut in elegant Roman style of 1st or 2nd century AD between ruled alignment lines. If depression was in the centre of the block, that on this stone the word stood alone. The proper name would then have been placed on some other stone in the memorial.
Writing:   inscribed. Only one word in Greek.
Condition:   Fragment. Single frgt., broken on all sides, preserving original height and right front edge. Only part of circular depression preserved.
Period:   2nd c. A.C.
Chronology:   1st or 2nd c. AC, based on AJA 1919
Findspot Description:   Found in 1904, probably south of St. John's Church.
