Description: | Cylindrical base, moulding at bottom, now broken away, vertical face, crowning mouldings broken away. 4 cuttings in top surface for insertion of bronze statue, oriented to rt. of Greek inscription: at lt. a round cutting D00.143, depth 00.115, set in 0.15 m. from edge; 0.23 m. to rt. second roughly foot-shaped cutting W00.13-00.17, depth 00.135, L00.225; 3rd cutting lies 0.37 m. behind heel of foot, circular D00.18, with side toward heel cut at diagonal with long oblique point strokes. Top worked with claw chisel; between first two cuttings surface cut down 0.02 m., worked with heavy point. Cuttings belong to second use of block, originally turned upside down with Latin inscription; Greek inscription added in 2nd phase. | |
