Description:   Kotyle with flaring ring foot, flat undersurface, hemispherical body, tapered vertical lip. Two horizontal loop handles.
Decoration:   Black-figure orientalizing style. Three fine and one broad bands on undersurface. Broad band on either side of foot, fine band on resting surface. Three friezes: rays; animal frieze bordered by two broad lines; short wavy vertical lines, broad line along lip. Main panel shows capricorn, panther and bird facing left, following panther facing right. Bodies elongated, incised detail, red-brown paint on features (belly, neck, wing). Frieze filled by rosettes, dots of various size and shape, all incised. Half of vessel is misfired - orange and red paint instead of black. Interior solid black, orange where misfired.
Material:   Very fine pale brown clay, with rare, large, rounded inclusions and rare, medium, rounded voids.
Munsell Color:   10YR 7/4 (very pale brown)
Condition:   Complete profile. Several frgts., preserving foot (chip restored), nearly whole body, both handles. About 16% of lip restored. RIP.
