Description:   Broad receptacle with grooved rim to hold lid; low ring foot with flat slanted resting surface; reflex horizontal handles. Low conical lid with bent rim; large hollow knob formed of two truncated cones.
Decoration:   Corinthian black-figure style.
Lid: knob with linear decoration; rays around knob, double checker pattern band flanked by purple band, frieze, applied purple band on bent rim. Undersurface reserved. Lid animal frieze: goat to l., swan to r., panther to r., goat to l., panther to r. Filling ornaments: spoked rosettes with nearly smooth edges, spots incised with crosses, parallel strokes, parallel lines crossed by a single line, blobs.
Receptacle: grooved lip with glazed band; upper edge with horizontal band, vertical zigzags just below between handles; animal frieze bordered by a broad band above. Below the animal frieze, double checker pattern band between horizontal purple bands; rays at bottom. Outer edge of foot glazed, resting surface reserved. Undersurface: inner edge of foot, glazed, two concentric lines at center. Handles with double horizontal line. Animal frieze: lion to r., goat to l., panther to r., bull to l., swan with raised wings to r. Interior: reserved except for two broad bands.
Material:   Hard fired buff clay. Black paint and applied purple paint.
Munsell Color:   from 2.5 Y 8/3 to 2.5 Y 7/3 (pale brown)
Condition:   Complete or intact. Receptacle and lid mended from many fragments. Missing small fragments from body and lid. Restored. Paint partly worn off.
