Title:   TERRACOTTA FIGURINE OF A RECLINING MALE

Description:   Part of a mouldmade terracotta figurine of a reclining banquetter, preserving upper part of well-modeled chest and arms, as well as left leg and part of couch. Drapery over left shoulder and around waist, with swallowtail end on left thigh. Kantharos with wide body and high swung handles originally held in left hand, hand now missing. Single groove in small portion of couch which is preserved. Back added by hand, with traces of rectangular notch.
Fragments found in separate deposits--legs in Deposit 4 (court) and upper body in Deposit 8 (south of the building).
Decoration:   Traces of red paint on upper body,
Material:   Fine reddish yellow clay with few, fine, subangular white inclusions and few fine voids
Munsell Color:   5YR 6/6 (reddish yellow)
Condition:   Fragment. Two joining frgts, preserving most of upper body and upper arms, left leg, part of couch, and kantharos. Modern plaster infill.

Period:   4th c. B.C.
Chronology:   ca. 350-325 B.C., based on deposit (Stillwell 1948, Corinth 15.3, p. 211)
