Rim with ovules interrupted by raised rectangular panels at two sides and by raised trapezoidal nozzle; double groove around disk on which Nereid seated side-saddle on hybrid animal with head and upper body of a panther, but lower body and tail of a fish or other sea creature; Nereid looks to the left, showing complete profile of right side of face, body is frontal; she has right arm raised with hand placed above head and left arm pulling chiton out to the left; she wears wrinkly arm-covering knee-long chiton with himation worn diagonally across her left shoulder and flowing freely from her right shoulder to tail of beast, ankle boots. Similar to LIMC Nereides 87 (Delphi Museum 3126). Similar also to L-4480. | |
