Description:   Corinthian lamp imitating Attic post-glazing with square disk and channel to nozzle. Lamp with flat base, straight flaring walls, convex rim, square concave disk with fill hole in center, broad channel from disk to wick hole with additional filling hole at base of nozzle, large wick hole, vertical solid two-part lug handle, small air hole on body at base of handle and to the right. Cf. Lot 2011-50:2, Lot 2011-50:4, Lot 2011-51:1.
Decoration:   Incised branch within two almond-shaped grooves on base, three grooved handle above, two-grooved below, Maltese cross on disk enclosed by square framing ring on all sides but side near nozzle, herring-bone on flanking sides, groove on outer edge of rim. Material:   Fine, light reddish brown clay, with few small white and micaceous inclusions.
Munsell Color:   5YR 6/4 (light reddish brown)
Condition:   Complete or intact. Intact. Faintly molded decoration within disk; minimal overall chipping; burning at nozzle.
