Decoration:   Self-slipped on exterior.
Writing:   graffito. On base, within three almond shape grooves: ΧΙΟΝΗΣ. Cf. L 4572, L 4574.
Material:   Fine reddish brown clay with common white, medium, subrounded, platy inclusions and few small voids
Munsell Color:   Exterior: 5YR 5/4 (reddish brown), Interior: 5YR 6/4 (light reddish brown)
Condition:   Fragment. 2 joining fragments preserve 1/3 of base and side, surface pitted
Manufacture:   MM
Period:   Late Roman (5th -6th c AD)
Chronology:   Karivieri (1996, p. 143) dates the workshop to 2/4 5th-1/2 6th, the parallel to 2/2 5th c. CE. Corinth examples dated to late 4th c. CE (Slane, Corinth 18.2, pp. 20-21).
