Description:   Terracotta solid handmade group of five dancers moving in circle around central standing flutist. Each dancer has strip of clay applied around front of head as polos, clay overfold from back to front as head, small semi-circular face, broad short neck curving into flat strips as arms to join with dancers, flattened slightly concave chest, body oval in section tilted outward slightly. Bodies of dancers and flutist flare at bottom attaching seamlessly to base. Flat circular base, slightly concave beneath central flutist, with pared and smoothed edge. Fingerprints overall. Similar to MF-11483 and MF-11494.
Material:   Fine reddish yellow clay with few fine sparkling, rare Diam. 0.003 spherical angular black, and rare large tabular angular red inclusions and rare small tabular angular voids
Munsell Color:   Clay: 7.5YR 7/6 (reddish yellow)
Condition:   Fragment. Six joining pieces (3 base pieces from Lot 864 and 2 dancers from Lot 863 joined in 2007) preserving two dancers from head to base, most of rt arm of one and stump of another dancer and stump of flutist and most of base. Traces of white slip.
