| Description: | Terracotta solid handmade group of four dancers moving in circle with arms joined around central figure. Each figure has flat strip of clay applied around front of head as polos and clay overfold from back to front as head. Each dancer has large semi-circular face, broad short neck, flattened chest, long broad flat strips as arms join dancers, body rectangular in section, tilted inward slightly, and flaring as attaches to base. Flutist has additional clay strip over face as face strap covering end of two clay rolls of double flute jutting out, flat strips of arms attached at shoulder stretch forward with rounded hands grasping and curling over ends of flutes, and cylindrical body flaring as attaches to base.Flat circular base, slightly concave underneath flutist, with edge pared and smoothed. Fingerprints over whole piece. Similar in size and style to KT2-12, KT2-11 (Corinth XV.2 Class II p. 43 no. 8 pl. 4) and KT2-7, 8, 9, 10 (Corinth XV.2 Class II p. 43 no. 4-7 pl. 4). | |
