Description: | Preserved in three major fragments and twelve smaller fragments. Small portions of lid and lip missing. The metal is very thin and corrosion has weakened the fabric severely, especially at the edge and on the lip. The inside of the lid is marked by pairs of fine concentric grooves etched with a compass. The successive diameters of these pairs of grooves are: 0.026m 0.038, 0.098, 0.108, and 0.158. The lip is not decorated. The top of the cover has two pairs of fine concentric grooves near the edge. The top surface was adorned with applique relief figures backed with lead which are now separate from the lid, though marks of the placement of the reliefs could be detected in the corrosion pattern before cleaning (see photo 63-23-10)
Condition: | Fragment. When discovered in the grave these four elements were separate and the cover and relief were each incomplete and fragmentary; see MF 11562 a
