Object Number:   14459
Description:   Large bronze boss with protrusion, convex and hollow in profile, at center rising from thin, flat, hexagon base. Convex protrusion (welded to flat hexagon base?) comprised of twelve panels, each with center ridge, that converge beneath a raised rosette head of nail at center. Six holes for nails at corners of flat hexagon base. Underside: twelve ridges lining undersurface of hollow protrusion; base with three circular holes spaced evenly between the outer holes. Thin hexagon frame, rectangular in profile, with longer and shorter sides; shorter sides with three flat, rectangular legs for insertion in holes of base. (Presumably the legs of the frame taper to fit the circular holes of the base.)
Decoration:   Raised rosette design at center decorated with layers of petals and ending in six groupings of three raised dots each, and one raised circle at center of rosette. Head of nails, convex in profile (H. 0.003), decorated with raised rosette design: one center dot surrounded by two layers, each with eight raised dots.
Material:   Bronze.
Condition:   Missing parts. Complete except for nails: three secured in place (shafts bent at right angle), one loose in bag, and two missing. Slight corrosion of surface in some places; overall in good condition.
