Description: | Lead clamp for mending pithos, composed of a large triangle, each side of which is convex on upper face, with flat undersurface, and untrimmed flanges along both edges. Beneath each point is a cylindrical ‘leg’ which ran through the thickness of the pithos, each originally ending in a spreading mass of lead. According to the NB, the pithos had been mended several times; in the context box are other fragts. Of clamps. | |
