Title:   EARLY HELLADIC PAN-HEARTH RIM

Description:   Rim fragment of simple, shallow, circular pan-hearth. From irregularly flat bottom, exterior flares to rounded lip, canted to outside; from highest edge interior descends in broad, shallow concave curve to flat pan. Exterior, wiped roughly smooth. Lip and interior red-slipped and hard-burnished. Fire darkening in lower pan areas. Context: EH II fill, dfate EH I.
Decoration:   Red-slipped and burnished, bottom unfinished.
Material:   Coarse fabric, grit, mudstone and light inclusion lightly micaceous. Fired orange-red all through, loosely compacted. Slipped.
Munsell Color:   Upper surface (slip) 2.5YR 3/6, dark red, go darker in burnt areas.
Condition:   Fragment. Mended from two joining sherds, broken around except at rim. Abraded.
