Description:   Figurine of a bearded male wearing a polos. Long hair, bulging out. Slightly protruding eyebrows rising up to the top of the nose. Eyes summarily executed. Broad nose. Heavy, flowing mustache. Back completely unarticulated. Head identical to one from a complete figurine of this type found by the Greek Archaeological Service Railway Excavations (ERGOSE) in Nov./Dec. 2004 in a fourth century B. C. tomb north of Ancient Corinth. That example shows a bearded male figure with polos, seated (Dionysos ? but polos) with a satyr reclining to his right (on viewer's left hand side); satyr plump and resembles comic actor (?); the satyr's kantharos is on the lap of the seated god (third quarter of 4th c. B.C.). The ERGOSE example is in better condition but fractionally smaller: ? later imprint.
Decoration:   Traces of white paint visible on left side of hair, left part of mustache, right side of face, and line of polos touching hair.
Material:   Fine gray clay fired orange on surface with few medium red inclusions, frequent fine sparkling inclusions, and rare voids.
Munsell Color:   Core: 10YR 6/2 (light brownish gray), Surface: 5YR 6/6 (reddish yellow)
Condition:   Fragment. Single fragment preserving head of figure from neck up.
