Description:   Bone buckle with front face rounded, reverse flat. Buckle consists of long hollow rectangle and oval. End of rectangle (Th. 0.004) slightly curved (convex surface, concave underside) and likely where belt or garment sewed to buckle; side thicker (0.006) and rises vertically (H. 0.001) from end. Between rectangle and oval: drilled hole through middle for insertion of narrow rod, circular in section and tapering slightly at exposed end, for attachment of tongue. At end of buckle: deep pointed conical groove (Th. 0.004), with raised lip, for end of tongue to fall upon. Somewhat similar to bronze buckles MF-7238 (Davidson 1952, Corinth 12, cat. 2202) and MF-8200 (Davidson 1952, Corinth 12, cat. 2234)
Decoration:   Between rectangle and oval: on surface series of six incised grooves. At end of buckle: incised line on surface bordering groove; single incised line around outer edge except near groove.
Material:   Bone.
Condition:   Complete profile. Single frgt., preserving just over 1/2 buckle. Underside slightly worn in some areas. Narrow rod likely broken at one end.
