Description:   Terracotta figurine of draped old woman or child (according to Corinth 12). Hollow; thickness of walls uneven. Large oval head with extremely high forehead and facial features all in lower half of head. Shawl drawn about head and over left shoulder. Plastic arm, draped, lying across chest. Numerous small imperfections in surface showing clay not well pressed into mould. Clumsy retouching.
Decoration:   Thin buff clay slip.
Material:   Coarse pink clay with frequent medium rounded spherical white inclusions, frequent medium angular spherical voids.
Munsell Color:   7.5YR 7/4 (pink)
Condition:   Fragment. Single frgt., preserving head, part of arm on chest, part of upper back. Chipped at back of head, chin, forehead. Slip worn in various places, slight blackening on chin and nose.
Period:   1 st c. B.C.
