Description: | Mouldmade terracotta figurine with rounded peg at bottom for insertion into body. Slightly grotesque face, apparently representing an old woman (although it could also be a young boy). Hair or hat in thick roll over forehead. Ears indicated by bits of clay pinched out from head after removal from mould. Eyes large, nose wide, thick lips. Bottom of neck rounded into peg. Figurine solid. Back of head unmodelled but smoothed and slightly rounded. | |
