Title:   BRONZE KETTLE WITH INSCRIPTION

Description:   Flat-bottomed bronze kettle with straight sides slightly indented beneath the projecting rim. Two pierced oval projections on the rim for attachment of handle; iron rivet remains in one hole. Inscription below rim.
Decoration:   Crudely engraved guilloche pattern around the sides below inscription; engraved band of chevrons near bottom.
Writing:   inscribed. One line in Greek, proper names uncertain but reading probably: K[URI]E BOH(TH)[E]I TOU DOULOU SOY HSH[]OROU AMA TI SUMBHOU ARET[EI]
Material:   Bronze
Condition:   Missing parts. Several missing pieces including handle; much battered, surface damaged.
Period:   Frankish (1210-1458 AD)
Chronology:   13th c, according to Corinth 12
Findspot Description:   Found with MF-4005, MF-4006, and MF-4007 in water channel in Agora near St. Johns, area west of Temple G above prehitsoric fill: date not recorded, and I (JHK) cannot find it in the notebooks.
