Title:   TERRACOTTA MIRROR CASE WITH RELIEF

Description:   Mirror case consisting of a round disk with a vertical rim with carelessly executed moulded profile and flat resting surface. Rim has a shallow groove at mid height with fillet below and projecting lower member, upper flat.
Decoration:   Top surface decorated with high relief of nude male standing on rt. Leg, facing 3/4 rt. With left leg bent back at knee, lt. arm bent up with fist at shoulder. Figure winged with wing at rt. Prounounced musculature. Drapery wrapped around lt. forearm and fluttering out to either side of figure; round disk-shaped object in front of lt. elbow-cloth? Bird? Stands on an irregular bumpy surface. Underside plain.
Material:   Fine clay with a very few fine white, red and gray-brown inclusions, fired buff over most of surface and core, to bright pink below feet.
Munsell Color:   10yr 8/4 to ca. 5yr 7/6 or pinker
Condition:   Complete profile. Two joining fragments, preserving 1/6 circumference
