Title:   TERRACOTTA FIGURINE: BANQUETER

Description:   Terracotta mouldmade banqueter reclining on lt. side, rt. arm rests on rt. side. Oval face with large eyes, defined lids, protruding brow and nose, lower lip framed by full beard and drooping mustache. Wears high polos with concave top paired with a fillet over wavy hair; subtle moulding of chest musculature; Himation drapes over lt. shoulder covering preserved lt. arm gathering in three folds. Added clay on neck and rt. shoulder for head attachment. Open at back. Head similar to MF-12164 (Corinth XVIII.4, p. 65-68, 108 no. C225 pl. 19) and torso similar to but smaller than MF-1899 (Corinth XII, p. 48 no. 306 pl. 26).
Decoration:   Red paint on neck.

Material:   Fine reddish yellow clay with few fine to large platy rounded white lime, rare small platy angular mica, few fine sparkling, and few small platy rounded mudstone inclusions with rare large spherical sub-rounded and rare large tabular angular voids
Munsell Color:   Surface: 7.5YR 7/6 (reddish yellow), Core: 10R 6/1 (reddish gray), Paint: 10R 5/8 (red), Slip: 7.5YR 6/4 (light brown)
Condition:   Fragment. Four joining frgts., preserving complete from head to waist, missing right and left arms from below the elbow. Covered in slip. Surface worn and crumbling.
