Description:   Rectangular plinth with vertical sides, beveled upper edge, underside smoothed. Plinth lightly gabled along narrow end like low pentagonal antefix. Resting on it are hindlegs of crouching feline like Perachora lion. Hindlegs flat on plinth, hindquarters also touching plinth. Top of toes rounded, nails incised, triangular in shape. Outside of left hindleg has two long shallow grooves articulating bones in stylized fashion. Part of rounded rump. Tail curls down and wraps along side of plinth ca. 0.033 above bottom. Facets of flat chisel on rump; unsmoothed flat chisel strokes (W. 0.001) on plinth top between legs. Long "scratch"marks of point or edge of flat along outside of left hind leg on plinth. Scale similar to Archaic marble sphinx. Capital goes with capital MK-1766 and National Museum lion 15241.
Condition:   Fragment. Single frgt., preserving back part of plinth with hind legs, rump and tail of animal. Missing tip of tile.
