Description:   Doric column capital consisting of top of column with 15 shallow flutes, band of 3 annulets-stepped with sharp edges, echinus with very slight convex curve, turning up to abacus with V-shaped groove articulating it from abacus. Ht. of abacus equal to ht. of echinus. In bottom of capital, round empolion cutting set in 0.17 from flute: Diam. 0.04, depth 0.052: sides not vertical but close in toward 'base' of hole. In top of abacus, part of shallow rectangular cutting, set at 55 degrees angle to abacus faces and slightly off center. Cutting: L. 0.468, max. P. W. 0.188, depth 0.008. Edges of cutting not consistently cut vertically; floor slightly rough with possible tooling by oblique strokes of a point. Surface of capital smoothly finished. Capital goes with lion feet MK-1765 and National Museum lion 15241.
Decoration:   Thin layer of fine white stucco over all but resting and bearing surface.
Material:   Oolitic limestone, fine-grained, though not so fine as MK-1765.
Condition:   Complete profile. Single frgt., preserving complete height, complete shaft; over 1/2 echinus, 2/3 abacus, broad cut (from plow?) in top of abacus. Stucco incompletely preserved. Edge of shaft chipped.
Dimensions Actual:   max. H. 0.302, Diam. of column shaft 0.373 (flutes)-0.40 (arises); H. of echinus 0.10, W. of annulets 0.015, L. of abacus 0.68, H. of abacus 0.114, W. of flute 0.084, H. of shaft 0.065.
