Description:   Standing Aphrodite with shell or aquatic water nymph, somewhat under life size. Thighs and legs covered by heavy drapery pulled around hips and fastened at center by large, concave-curling shell; drapery falls in strong folds to feet, at sides clings downwardly and diagonally to legs in much shallower folds. Figure standing on straight left leg, right leg bent at knee and trails behind; body bending forward slightly. Breasts small and high (both partially broken); hips and thighs full. Locks of hair on shoulders, hanging part way down back. Back: hacked off to hips; drapery and part of buttocks below. Smooth modeling.

Condition:   Missing parts. Three joining frgts., (S-1429=left shoulder) missing head, proper right shoulder and arm, left arm below shoulder, right foot, large section of back and buttocks, some drapery. Joins with S-1426, June 1967. Surface not well preserved, encrusted.

Findspot Description:   Found built under Byzantine wall on earth, ca. 0.30m over water pipe cut off at Cistern B in [4-C] lying on right side.
