Description:   Aphrodite, standing with lt. leg straight, rt. lightly flexed with missing foot drawn back. Upper torso probably bare. Draped from thighs down in mantle that is gathered around thighs, knotted in center, with column of folds falling down between legs, narrow at top, widening toward base and embellished with zigzag folds; drapery pulled up so that oblique gathered folds on upper thighs, at knees, and finely incised on legs. In back, folds more schematically finished, with narrow column hanging nearly vertically behind lt. leg, shallow folds pulled diagonally to rt. Originally joined to upper torso, top surface roughly picked with iron pin in center (D. 0.007m). Drill channel to either side of central fold. Flat chisel for rest.
Material:   Moderately fine-crystalled white marble.
Condition:   Fragment. Single frgt., lower part of figure from top of thighs to nearly plinth, missing feet; folds of paraphe damaged.
