Description:   Large head of Demeter slightly larger than life-size. Long, wavy hair parted in center burhsed back from face falling in two locks down back of neck. Flat, plain band circles head holding hair in place. At top, deep rectangular cutting in band for attachment of elaboarte headdress; small hole on band above right ear probably serving same purpose. Small hole on lobe of both ears and another large hole behind each ear.
Decoration:   Gold gilding on hair. Surface of face and neck very highly polished; surface less smoothly worked on right side. Surface on left side at back levelled off and wide deep cutting with outwardly flaring sides made running diagonally across area, increasing in width at top (probably for ancient repair?).
Material:   Large-grained white marble.
Condition:   Missing parts. Missing nose, eyes chipped out. Chips missing from face, broken off at chin. Back left side large piece missing. Traces of thin gilding on hair.
