Description: | Segment from side of over life-sized cuirass statue; at top is lower edge of breastplate that curves out to large, round-tipped lappets. Edges of lappets plain; lappets themselves decorated in low relief with ram's head (partly preserved) and frontal helmet, both rather crudely carved. Frgt. has a vertical vein of mica probably to rt. of center; hammer and point marks from intentional breaking. Workmanship, micaceous vein and intentional destruction suggests possible association with S-3672, S-3570 from Theater, possibly Hadrian ? | |
