Title:   DRAPED MALE STATUETTE

Description:   Figure stands with weight on lt. leg, rt. slightly advanced, left arm at side, bent forearm resting against hip. Wears a himation that hangs to below knees, leaving lower legs bare. Left arm and hand (?) completely enveloped in drapery. Himation gathered in shallow catenaries around rt. hip, remainder hangs in parallel diagonal folds from lt. side to rt. foot. The drapery projects from the right side at hip-height, perhaps to cradle missing rt. arm. Beneath left hand, originally a column of folds. In back drapery summarily worked. Legs not modeled in the round but are joined by a wall of stone and therefore carved in relief.
Material:   Fine-crystal white marble.
Condition:   Fragment. Single frgt., preserving waist to lower legs or feet. Broken at bottom (?) and top; fronts of legs broken away; missing rt. Arm, lt. upper arm, forearm worn; drapery broken away in column below lt. hand.
